Thought For Today 28 April 2023, J Krishnamurti

I wonder what you mean by ‘the uniqueness of the individual’. Is an individual unique at all, or the result of so many contradictory social, economic, climatic and nutritional conditionings that there is, as far as one observes, hardly anything unique – really a second-hand human being? We are the result of so much propaganda – of the church, of business, of politics – that there is hardly anything original left in us. And how can we actually flower within a limited society – and all societies are bound to be limited – how can anything flower within a very small circle of consciousness? It must explode this narrow limitation and conditioning, and perhaps out of that comes a new flowering of human beings.
