The more intellectual or emotional one is, the more one acquires knowledge. One reads a great many books and becomes very clever, intellectually argumentative. Intellectually we build a defence for ourselves, behind which we protect ourselves. If we are emotional, we become sentimental, doing good work, lost in social reforms, interfering with others, trying to guide, help and change society. But all that is extraordinarily superficial. How has it come about that human beings live on the surface though they have had so many experiences of wars and constant battle within and without, with all the misery and suffering, both physical and psychological?
