The most important thing in life is meditation. In the doing of it, every other problem is understood. In the doing of it, not in talking about it, not speculatively wondering what meditation is, but to discover for oneself what meditation is. No authority, no book, no teacher, no guide – find out. In the discovery of it and the understanding of it, all other problems are resolved. It is like having a light that shows every object clearly. This demands a very serious life, a highly disciplined life. Not discipline in the form of imitation, conformity, adjustment, superficial comprehension, but it demands tremendous inward alertness, discipline, watchfulness.
