Is it possible for the mind to end conflict? – all conflict, not only conscious but deep down, the layers hidden which have never been exposed, which may be the cause of conflict. I cannot end that conflict without knowing the whole content of myself – the escapes, desires, will, demands, sexual urges, all the twists, perversions and tortures I am in. And does the mind learn all the content of it gradually or instantly? If it is a gradual process, then you’ll die without learning. If it is a gradual process, it involves time – many days, years, or even a few minutes. In that time, there are all kinds of pressures and distortions going on. So time is not the way to understand it. Therefore there must be a different way. So can I learn about myself – which is a very serious thing, in which there is no deception at all – completely on the instant? Now meditate. Meditate now. After all, meditation is sharpening the mind. No book, no relationship, no argument is ever going to produce that quality of sharpness. So, you offer me that, and you say, ‘It’s your food, cook it,’ and I have to find out. There is no cookbook; there is no chef, no leader – I have to find out. Which means I have to use every form of ingenuity to find out.
